What’s the difference between being in lockdown and being in jail? The answer from today’s guest will surprise you.
Today I’m grateful to be here with my new friend, Doug Bopst. Doug is a personal trainer, author of 3 books, and host of The Adversity Advantage podcast.
Doug has a unique perspective as someone who actually spent time in jail—a former convicted felon and drug addict, Doug made the best of his time in jail to discover fitness and reinvent himself.
When you’re looking around in these challenging circumstances the past year or so, a lot of people are getting weaker or they’re getting broken, they’re letting things get to them. And then a small minority of folks are actually getting stronger because of this, they’re getting into dojo mode and getting disciplined.
Doug has a lot of interesting perspectives on how we can get out to the other side of all these challenging times even stronger than we would have otherwise been.
Doug’s story was featured in a documentary film called From Felony to Fitness to Free and as of this year, he’s now 12 years sober. So congratulations to Doug!
You’re going to dig this show. We’re chatting about:
- The surprising difference between being in jail and being under lockdown
- How to funnel addictive behavior into something positive
- How to use fitness as a catalyst for change in your life
- And tons more…
Let’s go hang out with Doug.

Before You Go
Here’s a note that came in from Connie in our recent Wild Challenge. She says…
“I am loving this challenge! 5 days, 5 pounds lost! Wow, I am now at my lowest weight since I intentionally started trying to lose weight last may.”
– Connie
Connie, thank you so much for this note, I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the Wild Challenge.
Of course, when we release a new app like this, which is a really robust platform, there are lots of bugs, and I appreciate you guys being patient with us.
But we continuously make improvements and we are psyched about where we’re going with this.
We’re doing monthly Wild Challenges with different themes, meal plans, and goals.
So if you’re interested and you want some accountability and some fun in this whole process, and you get to meet me and my wife and the whole team, you can visit us over at fatburningman.com/app and join the fun.
You can track your daily nutrition, sleep, movement, meditation, mindset, and much more.
It even hooks in with your smart watch, the health app and FitBits and all of those techy gizmos. We have a lot of integrations that are working out well actually.
So if you’re into that, go check out our new app the Wild Challenge. And since you’re a fan of Fat-Burning Man, you can save 50% off by applying coupon code BEWILD50 when you join our next challenge.
And great news, some of you already know this, but we just upgraded our formulation of Vitamin D Stack over at wildsuperfoods.com.
Now Vitamin D Stack packs 2.5 times higher potency of vitamin D3 along with the co-factors vitamins A, E, K1 and K2,.
So you can go stock up on Vitamin D Stack, and save over $40 off a 6-month supply or save over $99 off a 12-month supply.
So if you’re in the United States (right now it’s only in the US, folks), check out wildsuperfoods.com. We highly recommend Vitamin D Stack, it’s one of my daily favorites.
