Before You Go
I wanted to share that according to a survey by the Vision Council, nearly 80% of us are on a screen just before going to bed, (myself included I admit).
Alyson and I, we like to play video games, we watch movies, sometimes we need to stay up late doing work, but there are a few things that you can do to mitigate the damage of artificial light, especially after sundown.
So what’s the problem with artificial light, especially when it’s dark out?
Well, according to research, the light emitted from screens is linked to a growing number of issues including poor sleep, headaches, as well as other digital eye strain symptoms.
For example, after being on a computer for several hours, have you ever noticed issues with your eyes twitching, blurred or double vision, fatigue, your depth perception or even just trouble falling asleep?
The surprising truth is that the light we absorb from computer screens can be just as jarring to our internal rhythms and metabolic processes, as substantial amounts of life stress. But the effects are more subtle and actually build up over time.
The good news is that melatonin is a powerful antioxidant that plays many important roles in the body, from regulating sleep to reducing inflammation and supporting the immune system.
And it’s something that you could take as a supplement in the evening when you’re ready to hit the sack.
But there’s nothing better than your own endogenous production of hormones like melatonin.
Research has shown that artificial blue light from staring at screens late into the night does disrupt our body’s natural production of melatonin by up to 60%, which can actually lead to poor sleep and mitochondrial damage.
So if you’re looking for peak energy and performance during the day, as well as the fat-burning effects of deep restorative sleep at night, consider blocking the worst offending wavelengths of artificial light once the sun goes down.
Want a simple solution?
Wearing blue-blocking glasses in the evening is an easy win to protect yourself from a natural melatonin suppression caused by exposure to screens and man-made artificial lighting.
And good news, we just launched our brand new line of WildRx blue-blocking glasses, which are specially designed to block those harmful wavelengths of artificial blue light, protecting your eyes and circadian rhythm.
Our WildRx Blue Blockers utilize a patented process using melanin pigments built directly into the lenses to better protect your eyes while actually allowing you to see the other colors more clearly.
This encourages key processes like our sleep wake cycle, thirst, hunger, metabolism, hormone and neurotransmitter production to function in a natural and balanced manner.
So if you’d like to take a gander at our own unique design of yellow-tinted blue-blocking glasses from WildRx, just go to WildRx.com and choose the daytime lenses.
These are the lenses I encourage most people to get started with.
And if you’ve used blue-blocking glasses before and you’re looking for a bit more aggressive coverage, then check out our night time red variety of these lenses.
They can be very, very helpful when the sun is completely down—you don’t want any blue light getting into your eyes.
And I use these very frequently in the morning when I wake up early before the sun.
But most of the time, I prefer the yellow lenses, so I encourage you to go in that direction.
We have three different styles to choose from. All you have to do is go to WildRx.com, and if you want an extra 10% off your order for being one of the first people there, then please use the promo code: YOUROCK
Just enter the code YOUROCK and you’ll get 10% off your entire order.
And good news, if you wear prescription glasses already and you want some blue-blockers, now we can specially make lenses for you.
So even if you wear a prescription, we can help you out over at WildRx.com. We’re getting that all set up right now.
So I encourage you one more time, just go to WildRx.com, use the promo code YOUROCK for an extra 10% off.
Right now we’re only in the U.S., but hopefully we’ll be able to expand to international territories down the road.
But I can’t wait to hear how you like our glasses over at WildRx.com. They’re pretty snazzy, and really helpful on road trips when you’re away from home at night and there are all sorts of fluorescent and artificial lights.
I can’t tell you how many times I have used these over the past few years, and I really can’t wait to hear how you like them.

Now, thanks for hanging around till the end of the show.
This episode of Fat-Burning Man is brought to you by our family company Wild Superfoods over at WildSuperfoods.com as well as the good people at DrinkLMNT.com.
Now, real quick, before you go, let me ask you, “Are you disappointed by the lack of healthy sports drink options out there?”
I can tell you if I ever go into a corner store or a truck stop, there’s hardly anything that I would be willing to drink in there.
When it comes to electrolytes, it turns out that a lot of the popular drinks on the market have low amounts of actual electrolytes and miss the mark on the optimal ratio that your body needs.
But the good news is, our friend Robb Wolf started up LMNT to bring you clean sugar-free electrolytes.
LMNT is packed with more electrolytes than standard sports drinks and in the ideal ratio your body needs to perform well, plus there’s no sugar, artificial colors or added nonsense.
It comes in individual grab-and-go packets that mix easily in water, so you can get a pick-me-up wherever you are.
And for just a little bit longer, LMNT is giving away free sample packs to Fat-Burning Man listeners, and there’s still time to claim your free gift.
To claim yours, just go to DrinkLMNT.com/wild
You’ll only need to pay a small amount for shipping, otherwise the 8-pack of samples is 100% free for you.
Here are some of the flavors you’ll get in the free sampler: Orange, Lemon Habanero, Citrus, Raspberry, Watermelon, Mango Chili, Chocolate as well as Unflavored.
I really dig the Chocolate and Mango Chili. Raspberry is great too. I really like them all, and there are different ways that you can consume them.
Just having a packet or half packet in water as a little pick-me-up. You can even try sprinkling the Orange Salt or maybe even the Chocolate Salt from LMNT over fruit like watermelon, apples or citrus.
One of my favorite things to do is enjoy the Chocolate Salt in hot or cold water for a nice post-workout treat.
So, I encourage you to claim your free sampler to try LMNT for yourself.
One more time, just go to DrinkLMNT.com/wild to collect your free electrolytes.
Thanks for listening and chat soon.

Sonia is awesome. Here are a few favorite quotes from her in this interview…
“I went back to my native food ways with the way my parents were cooking and eating in India, simple, simple ingredients. And I started to bring in ways to remove these toxins and start to really heal.” – Sonia Hunt
“Billions of dollars that are lost in the restaurant industry because the food allergy community can’t eat out.” – Sonia Hunt
What are you trying to do with your time here on this Earth? You get this one vessel, so how should you be treating it?” – Sonia Hunt
“I’m kind of taking control of this rather than letting other people run my health. And I’m going to start digging really deep into certain areas, genetic predisposition, learning how to eat and cook all over again.” – Sonia Hunt
