Hey folks,
I was just featured on “How They Got Six Pack Abs,” and thought I’d share it with you since it’s a question that comes up pretty often. Enjoy!
What prompted to begin your fitness regime and get six pack abs? How did you feel before having a ripped body?
Several years ago, I came home after a Friday night out on the town to find my apartment completely engulfed in a 30-foot wall of flames. I lost everything.
I couldn’t sleep, started getting sick all the time, gained weight, and generally felt miserable. After losing it all, I felt like my life was out of my control.
But I realized that if there’s one thing I can control, it’s my body and my health. So I devoted the next few years to reading hundreds of books, scouring research journals, and learning the science and art behind ideal body composition.
In a world where the majority of diet and fitness advice is completely back asswards, it took an enormous amount of dedication and effort to find the truth about fat loss and muscle gains (as well as that elusive six-pack).
When I put my system into practice, I lost over 20 pounds in 40 days and – poof – I had a six pack. So many people asked me about the secrets behind the rapid leaning out that I wrote a book about it called The LeanBody Lifestyle. You can watch a free video about my story here.
What did you feel about the various options or programs available to you at that time?
The lion’s share of diet and fitness information out there is nonsense. Saying that you need to starve yourself, drug yourself, tether yourself to a treadmill, or shove money in the pockets of some ab-gadget salesman is preposterous and counterproductive.
I think most ab programs fail because they are too difficult and require too much sacrifice. I like to have fun, eat well, and I never go to the gym. As such, my system is extremely straightforward and easy to follow.
If you want to get permanent results, you need something that will work for the rest of your life.
What did you do to develop six pack abs? Can you please tell us about your diet and exercise routines?
You can see my entire nutrition and ab program here, but I learned fairly quickly that the vast majority of your results come from nutrition, not exercise. There’s an old bodybuilding aphorism, “six-packs are carved by spoons.” I wholeheartedly agree.
You want to know the truth? I don’t even do ab exercises!
Everybody has a six-pack, and the only way to show it to the world is by burning off the fat that covers it. I encourage my listeners, readers, and clients to eat real, clean foods and incorporate brief bouts of intense exercise to maximize fat-burning.
What were the obstacles that you faced in your journey? How did you overcome them?
The most difficult challenge was navigating the sea of misinformation in nutrition and fitness.
One diet program tells you to eat less than 20g of carbs a day, another says to eat as many carbs as you want and no fat, and another tells you that your diet doesn’t matter as long as you’re exercising 19 hours a day.
And it’s not just the gurus and the magazines that spread this confusion; for every scientific study, there’s usually another one that tells you the opposite.
I had to dig into some pretty wild stuff, but once I found the answer I had a six-pack within just a few weeks. And getting it was fun.
Looking back at your journey, do you think you could have done something differently?
It would have been easier if I had known the secret to muscle definition, fat-burning, and health all along, because it’s actually really easy to follow once you know what to do.
Fortunately, my readers can skip the years of research I put in and just get straight to the stuff that works – my entire 6-pack system is built into The LeanBody System. And I’m constantly tweaking it to make it even better.
If someone is looking to get six pack abs and a ripped body, what would be your top tips?
Forget about ab gadgets, fat-burning pills, and ridiculous exercise routines. Focus your attention on cleaning up your nutrition instead.
The truth is that I just spend a few minutes a week exercising, but the exercise I do is very specific and intense. You don’t need to grind on a treadmill for hours a day (actually, that could wind up making you even fatter).
Do you have a product of your own that can help people get six pack abs?
Yes, my complete LeanBody Program is available here. I also just launched a video training course and membership site with advanced strategies for rapid fat loss (http://leanbodycommunity.com/video-training-course/).
Is there anything else you would like to share with the readers?
Absolutely. Despite what the magazines, gurus, and commercials tell you, getting the body of your dreams doesn’t require any misery or deprivation. You can get abs, improve your health by following simple, straightforward principles. And you can have fun in the process.
