What’s it like to be on the front lines as a nurse these days?
Today, we’re here with Jessica Viker, a Registered Nurse and certified health and wellness coach who has been working with patients and clients for nearly a decade.
In this very special conversation, Jessica is sharing some of the specifics on..
- How to wade through all the hype around keto
- Why prevention is better than a cure
- What it’s like being on the front lines of nursing
- How she healed her own thyroid issues
- Problems with for-profit medicine
- And a whole lot more…

Jessica Viker: Coaching is it’s own little tab, you can click on that. I offer one-time coaching sessions and also 3-month packages. Your consultation is free. If you want to just talk about coaching, see if it’s for you, kinda run things by me.
I give half-an-hour free consultations to kind of figure out if we are a match for going forward.
And I want to offer your listeners today 15% off coaching, all levels of coaching services, with the coupon code: FBM15
Abel James: Nice. Awesome. Thank you for doing that.
Jessica Viker: Sure.
Abel James: Yeah, it’s hairy out there. We need a lot of people with a foot in both worlds, that hub, like you. Who can understand the medical world, the language, the terminology, and obviously, how to heal people.
Also some of the problems that might be built into that system, or baked in at least right now, and then reconcile that with the world of prevention.
We just need you more than ever.
So anyone looking for a solid coach who knows what she’s talking about, go check out Jessica’s work, please.

Before You Go…
Thank you for listening to this conversation with Jessica.
A quick plug. If you’re in search of vibrant health, one area that often gets overlooked is getting quality shut-eye.
It would be great if we could all turn off technology after sundown, but in real life it doesn’t always work out that way.
So here are a couple of quick things that you could try.
Number one, thankfully, after many years of this, there are a lot of apps or even built-in modes for PC’s, Macs, Androids, Apple phones, and the rest of it, that pull out the worst type of blue light after dark.
And so sometimes it’s called night mode or dark mode, there are different apps that can do this automatically, like f.lux for desktop and other platforms.
Look into enabling that mode deep in the setting somewhere on your different devices, your phone, your tablet. Your desktop and portable computers can all do this at this point.
So that can really help improve your sleep, reduce eye strain, and much, much more. So look for those options, make sure that they’re enabled.
And then in addition to that or instead of that as well, you can also look into blue-blocking glasses and make sure that they’re blocking the right wavelengths of light
Because there are a lot of cheapo knock-off versions out there now, but we’re really happy to say that we teamed up with a group of specialists to create our very own blue-blocking glasses called WildRx.

If you’re new to blue blockers, please check out the daytime variety yellow lenses. In 9 out of 10 cases, most people will want to start there with the yellow lenses.
But if you are more advanced and you want the campfire effect, the red lenses for after dark are really excellent. I use these a lot of times in the morning when I wake up before the sun is up.
I like to be on my synthesizer and keyboard, which is attached to a computer, playing all the instruments.
Looking into the monitor when it’s that dark, it really does cause me a lot of eye strain. So I like using these for intense moments like that.
But most of you want to start probably with the yellow lenses.
So if you’d like 10% off and to be one of the very first people to try WildRx, use the promo code YOUROCK for 10% off your entire order.
I really hope you like them. And don’t forget to write me, let me know how you like the yellow lenses or the red lenses, because they are quite different and quite unique. I hope you dig them.

Wow, Jessica has an interesting and important perspective as someone who works as a Registered Nurse and health coach. Here are a few quotes from Jess in this interview…
“The cravings pass.” – Jessica Viker
“There’s no one size-fits all and I think genetics play a role. I think what works for me doesn’t work for another person as far as macros, the sliding scale of how many carbs a day.” – Jessica Viker
“Food should not be something that pre-occupies us, gives us stress, gives us worry, give us shame; that needs to go away.” – Jessica Viker
