How can you possibly drop fat eating bacon cheeseburgers, adding butter to your coffee, and indulging in dark chocolate? And who has pumpkin pie the same day as the weigh-in?
While other contestants on ABC’s My Diet is Better Than Yours were practicing strict portion control, jogging endlessly, and giving up their favorite foods, Kurt spent very little time working out and still dropped another 7 pounds – a pound a day – in week 7.
But does The Wild Diet work when Kurt’s left on his own for another 7 weeks… during Thanksgiving AND Christmas?
EPISODE 7 RECAP OF “MY DIET IS BETTER THAN YOURS”
By the end of week 6, Kurt had already proved The Wild Diet was the most effective plan for shedding fat… AND weight. He came out on top by dropping a total of 50 pounds in just 6 weeks.
We also learned this would be the last week the trainers would be with their contestants. For the next 7 weeks, Kurt, Jasmin, Jeff, La’Tasha and Taj will be on their own in the real world.
BEATING SUGAR ADDICTION
During the football fitness challenge, Kurt explains that his addiction to sugar ruled his life before The Wild Diet.
“Before I met Abel and started on The Wild Diet, I used to put like ten tablespoons of sugar in my coffee. I was a sugaraholic. Now, I know how to make good food. There’s no excuse for being addicted to sugar.” says Kurt.
INTERMITTENT FASTING WITH THE WILD DIET – “FASTING & FEASTING”
First, let me just say that I’m stunned they let me talk about the benefits of Intermittent Fasting on National Television. I’m also shocked that I got so much airtime saying that “refined grains, cereals, and breads” are fat-storing frankenfoods and we should be eating more bone marrow instead.
Traditional foods are going mainstream, baby!
Over lunch, we chat about intermittent fasting.
Quick aside: This is the first time you actually see us with vegetables on camera. We were branded “team bacon cheeseburger” at the beginning. And although we do enjoy our fair share of cheeseburgers, butter, and cheesecake, I can assure you that Kurt was eating 2 – 3 times as many green veggies as meat every single day.
Now, Intermittent fasting or Fasting and Feasting is what I call a rhythm of meal timing that maximizes the hormonal benefits of cycling caloric intake to burn fat. Instead of eating many meals throughout the day, fasting and feasting gives you a compressed eating window (typically 16 hours of fasting with 8 hours of feasting).
While skipping just the occasional meal can be beneficial, cycling periods of fasting (usually in the morning) and feasting (usually at night) can aid detoxification, encourage fat burning, and improve immune function.
That means, I usually eat lunch at noon or later and eat a feast in the evening. I generally enjoy mornings with a bit of Fatty coffee.
This “Fat Fasting” gives your digestive system a rest so you’re burning fat the majority of the day. But if you feel good without fat in the coffee, I’ll often take it black. Many mornings, Kurt did as well.
Most people think it will be difficult to skip a meal every once in awhile, but I actually found the opposite to be true. After becoming fat-adapted, most people don’t get hungry until they start eating.
It’s weird. You can actually feel more full on less food. @kurtmorgan8 #TheWildDiet Share on XThere are a lot of Big Food companies that have a vested interest in telling you to be hungry all the time because they make a lot more money that way.
Breakfast has become an extremely profitable meal for the Big Food industry. Cereals, breads, bagels, and other staples are simply cheap grains loaded up with sugar and sold for an attractive profit. So if you can stay away from that stuff, especially in the morning, you’ll be doing your body and your checkbook a big favor.
Before The Wild Diet, Kurt was burning sugar, running on carbs, and feasting all the time due to constant hunger. Now, he’s transitioned to burning fat, which allows him to go without food throughout the morning because he’s burning off his gut, thighs, and other fat stores during the day. He’s burning off his body fat—that’s why the fat is there.
Like a Wild bear in hibernation that burns fat throughout the winter, you know?
KURT’S WILD FAT-LOSS PLAN
Kurt spent the first six weeks eating nutrient-dense, delicious Wild foods whenever he was hungry—now, we’re dialing in his nutrition to burn his body fat even more quickly. It’s still The Wild Diet, but we’re focused on nutrient density with a bit less fat.
You can check out how to burn fat fast with real food using the same Rapid Fat Loss Protocol.
Kurt starts his day with coffee, sometimes with a bit of butter but usually black. For lunch he’ll have tons of low-starch veggies, meat or eggs, and bone broth. For his evening feast, he enjoys salmon or chicken and a big green salad or a side of cooked veggies.
After a few weeks living Wild, Kurt is comfortable in the kitchen and knows what to eat, so I’m confident he can go at it alone.
While I’m giving Kurt the diet and workout tools he needs to keep burning fat when I’m gone, Jay takes Jeff to a tattoo parlor where they show their commitment to each other by getting matching J2 tattoos on their wrists!
Then Jay has Jeff running stairs with a 35-pound backpack—the amount of weight he’s lost so far.
Why isn’t Jeff losing fat as quickly as Kurt? 1) Jeff is eating quite a bit of high-sugar fruits like bananas and grapes. Jeff is also working out twice a day, but not getting enough sleep. His mindset clearly needs work. But even so, he’s making progress and that’s good to see.
La’Tasha’s yoked trainer Rob pushes her limits with aggressive exercise! He gives her the bandana test, and she earns her very own pink bedazzled bandana. Then, they go for a mani pedi so she can learn how to pamper herself in ways that don’t compromise her weight loss.
This is definitely Reality TV.
At the end of Jennifer’s yellow belt test, Taj seems to lose her warrior spirit. But “Taj isn’t going to apologize for being Taj.”
Jasmin and her family invite Dawn to a surprise dinner—a Superfood Swap meal (Chicken “un” Parmesan)—to show her how much they’ve learned.
Kurt and I have a chance to talk around a campfire. When we started, Kurt told me he never really wins anything, so he wasn’t expecting to win any of the challenges or the weigh-ins. But he’s been in the lead this entire competition! Now, he feels like he can do anything.
“Hopefully in the next seven weeks, you’re going to see a thinner, stronger Kurt.”
WEEK 7 WEIGH-IN: KURT LOSES ANOTHER 7 POUNDS
Contestant | Starting Weight | Week 7 Weight | Pounds Lost Week 7 | Total Pounds Lost | Total % Body Weight Lost |
Kurt (The Wild Diet) | 352 | 295 | -7 lb | -57 lb | 16.19% |
Jasmin (Superfood Swap) | 200 | 170 | -5 lb | -30 lb | 15% |
Jeff (No Diet) | 359 | 319 | -5 lb | -40 lb | 11.14% |
La’Tasha (Nutrient Timing Plan) | 243 | 219 | -4 lb | -24 lb | 9.88% |
Before Kurt stepped on the scale, he admitted that after a long time being overweight you always second-guess yourself.
Shaun T asks him what he eats, how many calories?
“We don’t really count calories. But if I had to guess, I’m somewhere between 800 – 1100. I’m eating such good quality food and such high quality protein that I don’t feel like I need to eat all day or eat these huge portions.”
For the record, as Kurt said, he NEVER counted calories. His estimate of 800-1100 was a shot in the dark that didn’t include the fat he was eating, or the nuts, chocolate or the green smoothies every day. He didn’t know how to estimate that because he wasn’t counting.
That said, for the first few weeks of the competition, I’d estimate that Kurt was eating around 2000-3000 calories a day. By week 7, it was closer to 2000 calories a day. Some days less, others more depending on his workouts and following his natural hunger.
This part didn’t make it to camera, but Kurt’s wife, Alecia, was also eating Wild for 7 weeks. She wasn’t counting calories and even enjoyed quite a few “free meals”. By going Wild, Alecia had already lost 33 pounds in 7 weeks – that’s more than any of the female contestants on the show!!!
THE DRAMA OF REALITY TELEVISION
So this is when things get nasty. Kurt and I had dodged the drama despite starring on Reality TV for 7 weeks straight. But Reality TV knows that drama gets ratings so Jeff and Jay were encouraged to attack us for about an hour. Fortunately, only a few minutes actually made it on air. As one of my readers said, “I guess that’s what happens when you go on Television.”
Jeff throws another fit because we’re getting such rapid fat loss. “I think this is bull#$%t!” Jeff yells. “I think they’re cheating to win the competition. We are supposed to come together with all these great plans and starving yourself is not one of them.”
“I am NOT starving myself,” Kurt replies, quite level-headed. “If I was going to be unhealthy, I wouldn’t do this. I have 6 grandchildren. I want to lose weight as quick as I can, and he’s tailored his diet plan to suit me.”
Our bodies are meant to function burning fat. Once you become a fat burner, instead of a sugar-burner, your body can run on fat and even burn the fat from your body as fuel, if needed.
I think it’s time for a zinger, Jeff.
I take a moment to point out that Kurt and Jeff had the exact same lunch a few hours earlier, except Kurt had some of our homemade Pumpkin Pie.
I would have offered Jeff pie, too, but it’s too high in fat for his “No Diet” plan. 🙁
I did a lot of tongue-biting during this scene. Let me just say, when you’re on Reality TV, you’re filming for 12-hour days on very little food and sleep and they’re looking for every opportunity for character assassination. Let’s see if Kurt and I can get through unscathed. 🙂
I’m biting my tongue—I really want all the contestants to try The Wild Diet because they’re going to be eating delicious food without hunger… and they’ll probably get faster results by going Wild, too.
Before Kurt steps on the scale, Shaun tells him his blood pressure and blood sugar have remained normal. He also explains that Kurt lost 7 inches from his waist and his body fat percentage dropped more than any other contestant.
WOW!!!
Now, it’s weigh-in time. And Kurt still lost a pound a day this week! Another 7 pounds down. Vindicated!
“No matter what anyone else says I haven’t been starving myself,” Kurt explains. “I’ve been eating good food. I’m in this—yes, it’s a weight loss competition—but I’m in this to get my life back.”
Kurt’s wife even lost 37 pounds just by eating Wild meals with him! #MyDietIsBetterThanYours Share on XTaj steps up to the scale, but instead of stepping on, she admits to going off Jennifer’s Strong, Safe, and Sexy plan the day before. Apparently, their exchange after the yellow belt test didn’t sit well with Taj, and she fires Jennifer on the spot.
“Her services are no longer required.” Taj quips.
Off camera, I was tearing up.
But Taj has already fired Jovanka! So, Shaun tells her if she fires Jennifer, she’s done in the competition and she will not get to step on the scale…
THE “MY DIET” FINALE- HALF MARATHON & FINAL WEIGH-IN
In order to step on the scale, Taj has to stay with Jennifer’s plan. She’s already dropped one trainer and she’s now allowed to do it again. Shaun T has some advice for Taj:
Mental strength and internal power are what’s going to help you succeed in life. @shauntfitness Share on XAnd that’s it. Taj walks away from the competition, leaving Jennifer (and the rest of us) in tears.
That means we are down to four competitors to stick out the remaining 7 weeks.
THE REAL TEST STARTS NOW
Although I can’t be there physically to help Kurt through these next 7 weeks, Kurt knows The Wild Diet.
Kurt has been in the lead this entire competition, and he’s confident in sticking to it for the next 7 weeks… even though that means losing fat throughout Thanksgiving and Christmas.
One of Kurt’s motivators for transforming his body is being able to ride his motorcycle again. As he puts on his bike gear for a ride, Kurt’s wife, Alecia, comments “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you button that vest.”
“Riding motorcycles with my wife, Alecia, is special, but I haven’t ridden my motorcycle in almost a year.” Kurt explains.
The camera follows Kurt (looking slimmer than ever!) and his wife as they cruise around on their motorcycles. Style points.
“Through Abel’s Wild Diet, I feel better, I have more energy and I’m doing things I never thought I would do.” Kurt says. “Abel’s plan is eating the right foods without antibiotics or growth hormones.”
“It’s wild-caught fish,” Kurt says as the camera cuts to him cooking up a pink salmon filet in the skillet, “with the right amount of green leafy vegetables per day.”
(In case you’re wondering, the right amount of veggies is half your plate, and at least twice as much as the portion of meat that you’re eating.)
Who knew you could lose weight eating butter? @kurtmorgan8 #MyDietIsBetterThanYours Share on X“Your body knows good fat from bad fat. I’m really impressed with Abel’s plan,” Kurt says.
7 WEEKS LATER – THE BIG REVEAL
Kurt’s been sticking to the plan, doing short Wild 7 Workouts and taking walks with his wife, Alecia, and adorable granddaughter, Luna.
In this scene, you might be able to tell how freaking cold we are. It was about 30 degrees but we were dressed for 60 degree weather and standing in the wind for hours. If you look closely, you can see that all of our teeth are chattering… and some of our lips are turning blue.
First La’Tasha comes out and she looks… amazing! She’s strutting her stuff with the confidence we all knew she had. Jeff, too, looks awesome. Jasmin has seriously slimmed down and looks like a different person—I couldn’t be more proud of them all.
Then comes Kurt!
I’m overwhelmed.
When we started this, Kurt was winded just walking around. He said he couldn’t be there for his family, he was literally on his deathbed.
Now, his life has completely changed. He easily looks 20 years younger.
As Kurt jogs onto the field, Shaun T’s face says it all, “Oh my gosh—I can’t take this. This is too much.”
Lean and Mean Kurt says, “Now I’m thinner and I have more energy. My wife can get her arms all the way around me now. So, it’s a really good feeling.”
THE HALF MARATHON
It’s go-time. They all have to finish a half marathon (13.1 miles) to be eligible for the prize. They kick off running.
Jasmin’s in 1st—she’s been running about 5 miles a day for months, so she’s prepped hard for this. Kurt is coming up in second!
Remember, they don’t have to win, they just have to finish. On camera, it looks like everyone’s running. That’s mostly TV magic – there was a lot of walking in “cruise mode” for every contestant (thankfully). But they’re all pushing hard. A half marathon is no joke.
Dawn tosses a handful of glitter over Jasmin on the 5th mile, in SuperSwap style. La’Tasha is in third, and that aggressive training in Rob’s plan definitely shows.
Don’t do something mediocre when you can do something great with your life. @kurtmorgan8 Share on XJasmin comes in first with Kurt not far behind.
La’Tasha finishes in 3rd and even Jeff makes it through the finish line and collapses. Every one of them finished the half marathon! Incredible stuff.
“MY DIET” FINALE WEIGH-IN
Shaun T: You look really freakin’ handsome, Kurt. How do you feel?
Kurt: “I feel 30 years younger!”
Shaun T: What was the toughest part?
Kurt: The toughest part were the temptations, they were all around.
Shaun T: How did you beat the temptations?
Kurt: I wanna say I did it for Abel. But it wasn’t for Abel, it was for me. I did it for me, and it was for my family. I’d been sick for so long, I owed it to myself to get healthier, and the temptations were going to put me back where I don’t ever want to be again.
Shaun T: How are you feeling, Abel?
Abel: I’m a little nervous because I know it’s going to be an epic number. But it’s one of those things where you’re feeling the nervous energy, but let’s just lean into it. This is going to be awesome.
Kurt dropped 10+ inches off his waist and dropped from 52% body fat to 30% body fat! He’s won three weigh-ins, the most of any contestant, and has held the lead the entire competition. Now, he’s about to step on the scale!
When Kurt’s massive 87 pound weight loss appears on the screen, the room goes crazy. People can’t believe it and Shaun T is speechless. Kurt is overjoyed.
“14 weeks ago I couldn’t have imagined I’d do this. I couldn’t have done it without you, Abel.”
Kurt, this was all you. You’re gonna make me cry.
Finally, Jasmin steps on the scale, and when HER number goes up, I think everyone is a little taken back for a second! Wait—did Jasmin win by losing 53 pounds?!
Contestant | Starting Weight | Week 14 Weight | Pounds Lost Weeks 8 – 14 | Total Pounds Lost | Total % Body Weight Lost |
Kurt (The Wild Diet) | 352 | 265 | -30 lb | -87 lb | 24.72% |
Jasmin (Superfood Swap) | 200 | 147 | -23 lb | -53 lb | 26.5% |
Jeff (No Diet) | 359 | 295 | -24 lb | -64 lb | 17.83% |
La’Tasha (Nutrient Timing Plan) | 243 | 198 | -21 lb | -45 lb | 18.52% |
Since this competition, like The Biggest Loser, is about losing a percentage of body weight, the more weight you lose, the better. Even if it’s muscle. (We’ll get to that in a second.)
Jasmin is overjoyed and we all couldn’t be happier for her and Dawn.
Jasmin was incredibly dedicated – working out harder and longer than any other contestant – and following the Superfood Swap Diet! This style of losing weight is similar to The Biggest Loser, where you’re eating less and exercising more.
Here’s where it gets interesting.
The show didn’t air Jasmin’s fat loss numbers, but she went from 47% body fat to 34% body fat, losing only 13% percentage points of fat. Kurt went from 52% body fat to 30% body fat, losing a whopping 22% percentage points of body fat!
That’s a massive difference.
Even though he didn’t get the $50,000 grand prize, Kurt burned off the most body fat by far. And he exercised the least of any contestant.
From the beginning, Kurt wasn’t doing this for the money. He was doing it for his health so he could be there for his grandchildren. And just 14 weeks later, he looks and feels 20 years younger. You can SEE the energy on his face!
And he also enjoyed food like bacon cheeseburgers, chocolate, and cheesecake. No longer a sugar-burner, he’s transformed into a Fat-Burning Man.
That means Kurt has a better body composition and lower body fat than any other contestant. Those burgers fed his muscle so he could burn the fat, baby.
So proud of you, Kurt! 🙂
Does eating fat burn fat? Yes, it does! @kurtmorgan8 #TheWildDiet #MyDietIsBetterThanYours Share on XAt the end of the competition, Kurt lost the most total weight and almost double the body fat percentage points of any other contestant.
In those 14 weeks, Kurt shed a total of 87 pounds, 22% percentage points of body fat, 10+ inches off his waist, and – most importantly – he’s off all his prescription medications.
Kurt’s incredible journey has proved to America that you can have a ton of fun eating delicious food and get in the best shape of your life.
Even though Grandpa Kurt is 10 years older than the other contestants, he dominated the competition right out of the gate, dropping 16 pounds in the first week. And after 14 weeks on The Wild Diet, 47-year old Kurt shows no signs of slowing down.
That’s why The Wild Diet shines in the real world. When you focus on eating nutrient-dense foods higher in fat and fiber and lower in carbs, your body starts burning body fat like nobody’s business. Even if you’re not working out that much.
And, crucially, eating Wild selectively burns body fat with limited hunger while retaining lean muscle. Anyone can lose muscle, but it takes the right nutrition and fitness plan to lose fat and keep your hard-earned muscle. And Kurt nailed it.
Kurt is now a Fat-Burning Man.

Sad the show is over. It was really inspiring to watch everyone’s journeys & interesting to get different approaches to weight loss from different experts. I’d already read the Wild Diet before watching the show so I was rooting for Kurt. I still don’t understand how Jasmin won if Kurt lost the most weight & body fat percentage. Scratching my head over that. Anyway, I’m taking a little bit from each coach & tailoring it to fit my needs. I just started this week & lost 2 pounds already! Keep the great information coming & thanks for all you & your wife do.
Abel James says
Thank you Hazel! I’m glad you enjoyed the show so much. Hopefully future shows will focus on fat loss and body composition vs. percentage of weight loss (like The Biggest Loser).
Much more fun to come!
James F Fellrath says
This show was an inspiration. First, it demonstrated what all of us ancestral diet-eers have known for ever: this stuff WORKS. And best of all, it demonstrated it in front of the whole world!
Second, it showed that your age does not matter one iota – Kurt was the oldest competitor (my age, coincidentally) but still kicked everyone’s butts. ANYONE can turn their lives around with the Wild Diet.
Third, we’re getting the message out that modern food is junk, calories aren’t the issue, “five-six small meals is a load of crap,” and that losing weight doesn’t have to mean that we’re giving up jack squat!
Nice job, Abel – way to represent!
Abel James says
These are great takeaways, James! 🙂

Just playing with the numbers:
Kurt fat mass start
352*0,52=183
lean:
352-183=169
Kurt fat end
265*0,22=58
Lean:
265-58=207
100-(100/183*58)=68 % of fat lost
Lean: gain 38
Jasmin fat start
200*0,47=97
lean:
200-97=103
End Jasmin
147*0,34=50
lean:
147-50=97
100-(100/97*50)=48% fat lost
lean: lost 6

Misread the fat percentage of Kurt, but still some impressive numbers and better than Jasmin’s

I’ve been a podcast listener for a while and it was so cool to watch and cheer for Kurt. The whole family was watching in fact. We already knew Kurt was going to be successful but I have to say that your influence is so positive and even keel that it made watching his journey even better. I am very happy for him that he made such an epic change. And it’s awesome to see your sucess continue! #eatsomefatyo

At the end of the show i was a complete mess! I cried just seeing every ones results. I was inspired after the show ended. I quickly started to print out the meal plan and got so motivated to start #TheWildDiet. Abel you are heaven sent, you gave me hope that i can drop the weight that has been haunting me for years. I cannot wait to see where i am a few months from now. Thank you!

I am totally inspired. I first tried the coffee. I loved it. So I said let me look more into it. A friend of mine was talking about the KETO diet not too long ago, but I saw her eating a lot of junk food on her myfitpal. I just wasn’t sold. I got your book, and I got to the recipes, and they sounded yummy. I bought some bison and lamb chops. I have never ate either of them. The second day, just trying to say no to bread and chips…I woke up and was not hungry. So I drank a cup of coffee with butter and whipping cream. It was not until 1 pm that I said maybe I should eat something. I had a salad…Then I waited till later on and at some chicken breast with broccoli. I was so proud of myself. I have went thru the whole book. I like the tips. I just hope I am not eating too much. I have given into some cravings, but I am doing wonderful. I have chips and other things in the house, and I cannot get rid of them because of the people living with me. I have done wonderful in the fact that I have not grabbed any of them. Tonight I ate stuffed mushrooms I got from Sprouts. Yes, I stopped at Sprouts to pick up a few things I could not find anywhere else; such as, coconut sugar. I also picked up some more meat. Anyhow, I am sad because I just ate the mushrooms because they were so yummy…now I won’t cook the lamb chops. 🙁 Maybe tomorrow. Anyhow, Abe, I have never been as excited about the information you have provided. I am absolutely grossed out by what big box companies are doing to us. It makes me sad that my daughter likes some of the stuff. I don’t know if I can get her off the stuff. (chips and the dreaded chicken nugget)
I am super excited. It just seems very easy. Fat is okay…eat all you want….don’t worry about carbs…and you get to drink coffee. I am on board!

It is so refreshing to hear how on the show how food companies are making profit by saying you need to eat, I never see that coming! Preach intermittent fasting as well! Keep on spreading the word
Keep it up Abel I love how Kurt was so healthy after the weeks of training under yours.
I am desperately wanting my Dad to be on the same wagon as well as myself but he always has excuses like he’s already old. There is no specific number right?
P.s. I don’t know whoever made you wear that awful That Bacon costume, but keep on preaching the good word of Good high quality fats!

Haha, thanks Teng. There’s no specific number!!! Have him check this post out to get started going Wild over 40: http://fatburningman.com/6-steps-to-lose-fat-if-youre-over-40/

The show was really interesting and it was fun to watch all of the contestants. By the last couple of weeks though I was really interested in the wild diet. On the last episode where everyone ran the marathon and weighed in etc., I was drawn to the wild program even though on the show Jasmin won by a couple percentage points over Kurt because of the amount of exercise each contestant did and also the food. So I looked more into your Wild Diet and am giving it a go. I really like the knowledge about the food industry you provide. Lots of aha moments upon reading and seeing some of your podcasts. I’m at the beginning of the process but you will definitely hear from me if this works! Also purchased MCT swirl from Barleans, but it tastes like a coconut smoothie and has xylitol in it, so I was going to get something else for my coffee. Can you please weigh in on that for me? Which MCT oil do you use? Thank you!!

I didn’t watch the show, but reading this brought tears to my eyes. How exciting for him to be able to ride with his wife again. I managed to get a copy of the book before it sold out again. My husband and I are going to do a Whole 30 first, but are excited to adopt a Wild Life. Thanks for a great book!

Thank you, Amber! Going Wild is perfect after a Whole 30. So glad you enjoyed this story!

I started the wild diet two weeks ago and I am down 16lbs. I have never lost weight this fast. I have a thyroid issue and I feel so much better. I have energy. I also give up soda and I feel so content. I enjoy eating. I am so happy and I hope that I will continue to be as successful. Thank you so much Abel. It’s just the beginning. Great job Kurt you are an inspiration,

Fantastic to hear that, Jasmine! You’re right, it’s just the beginning. 🙂

Awesome to hear, Ines! We’re here for you. 🙂

I watched the show and was impressed with the idea of the Wild Diet. I down loaded all the books and started the diet a week ago. First of all you should change the name to “No hunger, real food diet.” (only kidding) I can’t even eat all the food on the meal plan and am not hungry. After watching a show called “In defense of food”, and looking at your diet, I see how processed foods and sugar are so unhealthy. Your diet follows a really clean eating plan and I am so much a fan. I haven’t eaten any processed or starchy foods since starting the diet and don’t feel deprived. The recipes are great. My son is a chef and loved the frittata. All is going well I have lost around 2-3 pounds and my tight pants aren’t tight now. I only have maybe 10 more pounds to lose but I will stay on the Wild Diet eating plan because it is so healthy. Thank you Abel
Brooks says
Props to you Abel! I saw the show and immediately bought the book. I am not a newbie to Paleo based approaches and have read quite a few books on the subject. What makes yours different? It is well written, entertaining, and does not bore the reader with every study ever referenced spouting PhD level explanations that few could understand. It tells it like it is, and unlike some plans such as Whole 30, you have blended the best of the best and if anyone is on the fence, I am telling you this is not only amazingly effective, but it isn’t even a “diet”, it is a way of eating for life that literally takes NO effort. In fact, you will eat more delicious food than you ever imagined. Things you might have considered a delectable treat (or cheat) before, becomes part of your every day life. So proud of Kurt, he was so lucky to have gotten you as his coach!

Hi Abel! Do you ever use cocoa butter for fat fasting?

I really enjoyed watching the show! I thought I knew a lot about nutrition, but I learned a few surprising new things from Abel that I had never even considered, like the fact that boiling sweet potatoes lowers their glycemic index much more than baking them does. I’d never really believed much in the paleo-style movement, but Kurt’s results speak for themselves. To me, the biggest indicators were his percentage of fat loss and how happy he seemed throughout the process. You can’t fake those things. I’m actually going to give the Wild Diet a try to see if I can lose those stubborn extra few pounds that refuse to be ‘run off,’ so thank you for being on this show and spreading the word!

Kurt
Starting
352×0.52= 183.04 lbs fat
352×0.48= 168.96 lbs lean
Ending
265×0.30= 79.50 lbs fat
265*0.70= 185.50 lbs lean
Difference
183.04-79.50= 103.54 lbs fat loss in 3.5 months!!!!!!
168.96-185.50= -16.54 lbs, meaning he gained 16.54 lbs of lean mass.
While he only lost 24.7% body weight. He actually lost 29.4 of his starting body weight from pure fat.
If Kurt had only gained 9.9 lbs of muscle instead of 16.54 lbs he would have won. In my book he is the winner, and maybe should get some of Abel’s increased profits. Cause you know his book is flying off of the Amazon shelves.

How much influence did John Kiefer have on the Wild Diet. I tried Carb Nite before. Dropped 20 lbs in 10-12 days, but after the Carb Nite I never stuck with it.

Congratulations to both of you for showing us the Wild Diet & its results. Just amazing.

Hi Able,
I did ketogenic diet few times last year. Always work But I love bread so much so always gained back the weight I lost once I go higher carbs. Also, my HDL went too high (above the ‘standard’) Not t sure if it’s good or bad. LDL n Trig are very low. But because of high HDL my total cholesterol is high too. I need to loose only 9lbs but it’s soo hard. Another thing with keto lifestyle my constipation gets worse. Any tips?

I didn’t know about the show until I found it on Netflix. I watched it in such a short time because I had to know what happened! I adore food and lead a busy life and this “diet” seems like such a doable lifestyle. Thank you for doing the show or I may have never found you!

How do you incorporate intermittent fasting and the WILD DIET? I have 80 lbs to lose and want to know how I can do this the best way possible. I am on Metformin due to my insulin resistance. My doctor has encouraged me to go down to 1 pill a day instead of the three I was taking. She wants me to eat healthy and exercise.
